At Hubbards Sailing Club (HSC) our motto is “Teaching Life Skills Through Sailing”. Not only do we produce high
quality, competitive athletes, we also focus on the development of each individual sailor as they become young
adults. HSC delivers the CANSail program from Wetfeet to CanSail 6.
We are seeking a dedicated, organized and enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with young people,
driving impact and representing an important community organization. The General Manager (GM) is responsible
for the oversight and support of HSC’s program, staff, volunteers, registration and facility. To be successful in this
role, you will require strong communication and organizational skills and thrive engaging with youth, their families
and other supporters.

Spring - March, April & May (part time - hybrid)
Summer - June, July & August (full time, on site)
Fall & Winter - September - February (part time - hybrid)
Salary:
Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Program delivery, administration, evaluation and risk management experience
- Staff and Volunteer management experience
- Partnership and stakeholder management experience
- Clear Police Background Check & Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Experience with software registration systems and website management would be an asset.
- Prior knowledge of Sport Nova Scotia program structures would be considered an asset.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide a quality experience for all participants while ensuring the safety of all users of HSC including sailors, coaches, parents, volunteers, guests and members.
- Provide leadership and foster a collaborative environment between all key stakeholders, including sailors coaches, parents, volunteers, and board members.
- Ensure that the facility and equipment is kept in good and safe working order.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Support and collaborate with Board Members in hiring of coaches and support staff
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of program registration, financial transactions, changes, cancellations and reporting
- Provide director support to Head Coach and coaching staff in tandem with volunteer Learn to Sail Director.
- Supervision of facility
- Provide regular & effective communication to program families, participants, coaches, Board Members and other key stakeholders
- Implement and monitor policies mitigating risks associated with the delivery of the program
- Assist with social media and website maintenance.
- Coordinate/assist additional event planning & programming (Facility Rentals, Sail NS Courses, Adult Sailing, Private Lessons, Regattas)
- Participate in preseason preparations
- Attend HSC sponsored events, as required
- Promote the Hubbards Sailing Club at events, in the community, and with Sail NS.
- Plan logistics of the meetings of the Board of Directors and confirm agendas with Commodore
- Additional duties as requested

Other requirements:
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google (Drive, Docs, Sheets) is essential.
- VHF certification (Marine Radio), or willingness to obtain
- Standard First Aid, or willingness to obtain
- Willingness to learn and understand the needs of our sailing community.
- Must be available to work weekends and evenings as needed. Position is based in Hubbards, NS with a hybrid work environment in the off season.
